Hey there! We are back today and this time with an update on the house. Since building our home, we have moved in, but we are currently going room by room and finishing each space. This means painting walls, caulking and painting trim, adding the permanent light fixtures and of course adding the furniture pieces and decor that work best for these spaces.

We are basically tackling the basics to get each place completed. It won’t necessarily mean that they will stay just like this in the future, but we are giving them a good start.

Our foyer has looked pretty blah since moving in and it has been a dumping ground for incoming packages. I wasn’t too happy about this, especially since this is what people see when they first walk in, so we did something about it.

Our doors are fiberglass, but they have a woodgrain finish to them. I ordered them this way on purpose because I knew I wanted them to look like wood, but we couldn’t afford the entire front door being wood. It was just out of our budget. The next best alternative was to paint them to look like wood.

However, there was the issue of wood stain color. I I needed to see if the color I had in my head was what I really wanted, so I asked ChatGPT. And here is what it came up with.

I was immediately sold!

Next, it was time to figure out the main pieces of furniture in the space. Again, we didn’t have the budget to buy anything new so I took the pieces that I had in our entrance at our last house. However, they needed a little change so I thought about changing the color of the mirror. There was just too much white on white going on here.

Again, I went to ChatGPT and here is what I came up with. And again this confirmed what I originally knew  to do: I needed to paint the mirror to look like wood also.

On the other side of the foyer, I wanted an olive tree and a cozy chair for someone to sit and enjoy the area or use if they need to put on or take off their shoes. The chair I ended up going with was from our living room in our last house. The cute planter the olive tree is in is a thrifted flip.  And the red throw is from a thrift store haul.  I was really trying to be as budget conscious as possible since there is still so much for us left to do.

You can watch exactly how everything came together below. It was truly a labor of love. I share all of the steps it took us to get it to what it is today. I share paint colors and links to the sources that I used in the space. You can also see how I made over the doors and and how the entire space came together in the end with a bit of Christmas cheer.

Here are some images of the space once we completed the work.

I just love the drum shade chandelier I chose for the space. It is a perfect fit between elegant and welcoming. I knew I wanted something fancy, but not too formal.

The doors look like real wood! I love how they turned out so much that I find myself looking at them throughout the day.

It was so nice to add a little bit of Christmas decor as well. And it was really nice to actually include recent DIYs that I just shared on my channel.  Everything feels welcoming in this space now.

I love how the wood doors and mirror coordinate. Both of them really warm up the entrance. And honestly, it just feels good to have one area actually completed and checked off the list in our home.

I would love to hear what you think. Would you add, take away or leave as is? Again, this is still a work in progress, but I am so much closer now.

Thank you again for stopping by and I will see yo back here very soon.
