I hope this holiday season has started just as you thought it would. I am trying to soak it up and enjoy it as best as I can even though we are still in the process of finishing out a lot of details inside of our new home. The best part is that we are in the home and I can even start DIYing like I used to which always brings me joy.

I started off last week with a few Christmas projects and I am back at it again. You know I love a good high end dupe so here is another one for you.

And as always, you can find more inspiration at the end of this blog post as I have 7 more DIYs you can make that coordinate with this one. Just scroll to the bottom.

This one was inspired by these oversized bells from Pottery Barn. They are beautiful, but super pricey.

I found a couple of similar bells. The large white one I found at a thrift store and the smaller one at Dollar Tree. They are plastic and smaller than the original bells, but I was determined to get the same look out of them.

So the first thing I did was remove the greenery pieces and take them outside to spray paint. I used a flat black paint & primer so that it would stick nicely to the bells. I gave it several thin coats to make sure the paint would last.

Once they were completely dry, I brought them back inside and began to add Rub n Buff with a cheap dollar store brush. I chose Grecian gold. I added several light layers of Rub n Buff following the circular motion of the bell all the way around. I wanted them to look like metal and I wanted them to look vintage so I kept some areas with a bit of black peaking through.

Then, for the larger bell I chose to add this round ring cabinet pull (I bought several in a pack cause they were so inexpensive) so that I could create an ornament topper for it. I have already used another ring pull for another Christmas DIY and plan on using more for more projects, so they were definitely worth it.

I used Dollar Tree crazy glue for this and it was surprisingly strong and super quick to dry.

Also, since the bells were gold, I did paint the round pull black so it would stand out against the rest of the surface.

I added a little bit of wine colored velvet ribbon to tie it in with the rest of my decor and that was it! I think they turned out perfect.

It really is hard to know whether or not they are plastic just by looking at them so I think I achieved the look. And I am sure this technique could be applied to any other piece of Christmas decor that you wish to update or change up this year.

These bells can be displayed just like this or hung up as well. What do you think? How would you style them?
