Valentines Day Wreath High End Dupe

Hey there friends! Today I am bringing you another Valentine’s Day DIY.

In order to keep in line with my theme from my last Valentine’s Day post where I shared I just want to make useful creations for my home that won’t clutter my space, I thought I would create a wreath that I could hang on my front door, but not “scream” Valentine’s Day only.

I saw this wreath on Grandin Road and I thought it was darling! I liked how it was made of greenery and could be used longer than just for Valentine’s Day. However the price was a bit much so I decided to make one myself.

I could not find any heart shaped wire wreath forms at Dollar Tree this time around so I decided to use what I had on hand. I traced and cut out a large heart form from some poster board using my favorite box cutter.

Next, I covered the entire heart in jute twine. This gave it more strength and made it look a lot nicer too (in case there were any peeks through the greenery.)

For the greenery I used the eucalyptus bushes from Wal Mart. They carry the small ones for under $1 and some larger ones for about $3. I used a combination of both since they are a slightly different color and would give the wreath nice dimension.

I removed each of the stems individually with a wire cutter and hot glued them onto the wreath form. I placed them with the stems facing the bottom point of the heart from either side.

I alternated the leaves: some light and some dark and moved my way up to the top of the heart.

This took a bit of time since I was going for a really full heart, but in the end it all came together just the way I had hoped.

I used some neutral striped ribbon from Dollar Tree to hang it and that was it!

All in all this wreath cost me less than $20 and so much better than the original $100 price tag. The great thing is that I can leave it up longer during Spring so I don’t have to change out my decor as often.

What do you think? I love how it turned out.

DIY Spring “Spanglish” Sign

DIY Spring Sign DIY Spring Spanglish Sign

Hello everyone! I usually don’t post on Saturdays, however, it has been a while since I had written a post and I thought it would be nice to share a little bit of a positive distraction with you.

With the recent developments in our country and changes to our school situation, I have had to find a new normal and it has been adjustment indeed. I don’t think I was ever meant to be a teacher. And I am sure my kids will tell me that someday. ?

Fortunately our kids go to an amazing school and their awesome teachers are trying their very best to make this as easy for us as possible.

And since we are now staying a lot more inside our homes, I thought it would be totally appropriate to share this “Home Sweet Casa” sign that I made a couple of weeks ago (and only now getting to share it here??‍♀️).

I was part of a fun Dollar Tree Mystery Box Challenge on my Youtube channel and this was one of the DIY’s I created out of some of my items and here is how I did it.

There were several items in my box and I did a total of 6 DIY’s out of all the items and you can see the entire video here.

This little arrow was one of the items in my box…

The first thing I did was remove the jute string and turn it upright.

DIY Spring Sign 2 DIY Spring Spanglish Sign

It resembled more of a house upright so I cut some dowels to create a roof. I used my new shears and they are amazing at cutting dowels! You can see how they work in this video.

Next, I painted the house white with some Home Decor Chalk Paint in White Adirondack.

I used my favorite antiquing wax (watered down) in order to stain the dowels.

Once they were both dry I used hot glue to adhere them together.

I wanted it to really resemble a house so I went ahead and added a little door. I just taped off a section with washi tape and used some Apple Barrel paint in black.

Next I took one part of an embroidery hoop and a Dollar Tree sign that I already had on hand…

And I stained the hoop with the same watered down antiquing wax and I Mod Podged the sign with some scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby.

I glued the embroidery hoop with E6000 onto the perimeter of the sign and then the house onto the bottom of the sign as well.

Afterwards I created a little decal (which is also available  in my shop) to add to the little house.

I use this vinyl.DIY Spring Sign 9 DIY Spring Spanglish Sign

Next, I took some leftover roses from my Valentine’s DIY’s and added them to the top along with some greenery.

My mystery box also had some pearls so I strung some large ones and used them to hang the sign and that was it!

I was so happy with how it came out. It’s the perfect piece to brighten my space and bring some much needed cheer into our home.

Let me know what you think! What colors would you have used? Flowers? Would you add a different saying?

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

Happy Monday! I am so happy to start a new week. Last week was brutal. Not only did I feel terrible, but the rain in Georgia just keeps pouring from the heavens and my two older kids had parent teacher conferences, and they also were released early from school 2 days this week… and did I mention it won’t stop raining?!?

Forecast for today… more rain!

?

Since I was in desperate need of some sunshine in my life I thought I would take a shot at making some Spring DIY’s… and I must confess I have never EVER created a decor piece with carrots for my home. Nor did I ever really want to.

However, I had recently gone to Hobby Lobby and saw so much inspiration that I thought I would give it a try.

I came up with this cute Farmhouse Spring Sign with a fun twist…

I took this pallet sign that I had on hand (it was the same one I used for my Harvest sign last year) as well as a farmhouse truck from Dollar Tree that I bought back at Christmas.

A real crafter buys multiples of the same item and doesn’t use them till months later #crafterslife

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 1 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

I painted the pallet with my go-to white chalk paint and used Morning Mist by Hand Made Modern (a PLAID line found at Target) to paint the truck.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 2 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

I also painted the wheels in Folkart’s Peppercorn.

Once that was dry I flipped over the truck and added a few of the tumbling blocks I had left over from my Look for Less Neiman Marcus inspired tray.

This will give the sign dimension and leave space to insert some floral foam.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 3 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

Then I glued the truck in place and used three of these cute carrots I found at Dollar Tree.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 4 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

I hot glued them together and placed a small dowel in between 2 of them. The dowel is to insert them into the floral foam.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 6 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

Then I took one of these tags from Dollar Tree’s new craft section and made a cute “carrots ” sign. I have the coolest new tool to cut dowels! The video at the end of this post shows you exactly how to use them too.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 5 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

I added 7 wooden beads and tied the end with an extra loop.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 13 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

This way I could add a thumb tack to the back of the pallet sign and hang the tag over the front.

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 11 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

And it made the cutest sign!

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 7 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

But wait! There’s more!

If carrots aren’t your thang, then try this option. I got a wooden heart left over from my Valentines decor and marked a line right above the truck bed (for a reference point).

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 10 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

I covered the heart (above the line) with cute small roses (I got a bundle from Walmart for $1.47).

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 12 DIY Spring Farmhouse SignI placed it in the truck bed instead and made a new sign for “Flowers”.

Viola!

It’s a versatile sign for all occasions & holidays! Which sign do you prefer? I like both, what can I say?

Also, I have even more Spring Decor DIY’s in my latest video.

Carrots and orbs anyone? I am in love with this one!

DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign 8 DIY Spring Farmhouse Sign

Another fave was my carrot “wreath” for over a door! Oh and that shutter was a $6 DIY! It’s so easy to make, no expensive tools required.
