Hello friends! The weather has been slowly changing here in Georgia. And while the days are still hot, the evening  climate has gotten quite comfortable. And because of this, I have been inspired to start creating for Fall.

There are several DIY’s I wish to share, however for this post, I will be sharing how to make this cute pumpkin “grateful” sign inspired by one I saw at Kirklands.

This was super inexpensive since I had everything on hand with the exception of the wood square sign that I had just purchased at Dollar Tree.

For this you will need a square sign, pumpkin form and a leather strap to start.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 1 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

The first thing you need to do is sand the glitter from the words on both the sign and pumpkin form.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 2 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

You can paint these any colors you want to suit your decor. I used Nantucket Blue for the pumpkin and Vintage white acrylic paint for the square sign.

Next, cut a rectangle out of your leather strap.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 3 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

With some scissors cut off all 4 corners as shown.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 4 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

Then, with a wood burning tool. I used this one… make stitch marks along the border. And then write whatever word you choose for the front of the leather piece. I kept the word the same as my inspiration piece.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 5 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

Next, I hot glued the leather piece to the pumpkin.

Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor 6 Amazing Dollar Tree Fall Decor

Afterwards, I used some gold thumb tacks from Dollar Tree, cut off about half of the pin to make it shorter, added some hot glue to the tip and attached it to the leather strap and pumpkin. I used a small hammer and covered the pin with a towel so that whenever I hammered it down, it did not damage the gold finish.

As for the square plaque. I added some horizontal lines and used a combination of colors to add paint onto it. I used a spatula to scrape the paint across the “planks” in an attempt to give it an old painted barn wood effect.

The pumpkin will go in the center so you don’t need much detail there. To attach the pumpkin, I used hot glue as well. And that was it!

I am loving that Nantucket blue. It goes so well with my previous DIY raffia pumpkins as well.

The rest of the items you see here are more new DIY’s.

That tray is an updated version of my last Dollar Tree raised tray. When I shared it last year many people couldn’t find the legs I had used for it, so this time I used items from Hobby Lobby that are found all year long.

7 High End Dollar Tree Fall DIYs

Hey there friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful start to your September. I have been thinking about the Fall DIY’s that I wish to share with you all for this season and I thought it would be fun to share some of my previous DIY’s that I have made in case you haven’t seen one or two.

Some of these are either a favorite of mine or a popular DIY among readers. These are all Dollar Tree DIY’s, but you might not have thought so at first glance. I really tried to make these so much more than just a DIY so I hope you enjoy.

As always you can find all of the tutorials for the following Fall DIY’s in this compilation video on my Youtube channel.

  1.  Succulent Dollar Tree Pumpkins

These were made out of Dollar Tree foam pumpkins and succulents. I painted them neutral colors and added moss. You can find the full tutorial here.

2. Dollar Tree Buffalo Check Tree

While you can use this tray anytime of year, the color combination is perfect for Fall. In this tutorial I share how to paint Buffalo Check backwards on glass. You can find the tutorial here.

3. Dollar Tree Fall Houses

These were one of my favorite of all time and I actually have 4 different DIYs with these houses, both for Fall and Christmas. They really are so versatile. You can find the tutorial here.

4. Dollar Tree Blue & White Pumpkin Candleholder

This one was made from another foam pumpkin. I love blue & white together and I decided to create a “faux” ceramic pumpkin that I could add a candle too and I was really happy with the result. Great thing about this is you can make the pattern any color you want to match your decor! Full tutorial (along with 3 other versions) here.

5. Farm Fresh Pumpkin Sign

This farm fresh sign was one of three sweet little signs I made in one video. It is made of a wooden pumpkin form from Dollar Tree. I created a stand out of it and stenciled the front. Full tutorial here.

6. Raffia Pumpkins

These raffia pumpkins are a favorite among my subscribers and one of mine as well. While the wrapping of raffia could get a little tedious, the end result is so worth it! Full tutorial here.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings

*The following post contains affiliate links. Please see full disclosure for details.*

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! We are at my parent’s house since the hubby is staining and sealing the last section of floors in our home. It smells pretty bad so we keep the kids away from it. One thing for sure though, we are in the home stretch on the floors!

I will be sharing more kitchen plans in my next post, but I thought it would be fun to share how to make these super easy farmhouse inspired napkin rings made from items at your local Dollar Tree.

All you need are two things. Those plastic silver napkin rings….

Dollar Treer Farmhouse Napkin Rings Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings

…and those raffia packs you find in the floral section.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings 2 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings

If you don’t find the raffia packs you can always use a Hawaiian skirt, like I did with my faux rattan vase. Works just as great!

So, here is what you do…

Take the raffia and start making individual braids. Make sure to get the longer pieces. If you do, then you all you need is one braid per ring.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings 3 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings

Next, hot glue the braid onto the ring. Make sure to fold over the end piece underneath itself to give it a clean start.

Oh and that is the same silver ring from before. I just happened to paint it for another DIY and it didn’t work out. #craftfail

Begin on one end of the ring and continue to wrap the braid around tightly. Secure with hot glue as you go. Make sure to cover the edges and not let any of the original ring shine through.

Continue until the other end of the ring.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings 5 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Napkin Rings

And that’s it! Just make as many as you like for your table setting. I think they are so pretty! And you can make and entire set of them for $2!

They are a perfect complement to my faux galvanized chargers as well.

Well, I hope you like this super easy DIY. I will be back with more kitchen plans!

Don’t forget to share with your friends and I will see you in the next one.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

*Some of the links below are affiliate links for your convenience. For more information please see full disclosure*

Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well! The school year is finally behind us! We got to see our teachers this week and it was bittersweet farewells until next year.

I will say we are looking forward to summer vacation though. We need a BREAK! We are looking forward to all this summer has to bring!

And speaking of, Memorial Day is around the corner (and 4th of July will be here before you know it) so why not start creating for it!

Have you seen these wood squares at your local Dollar Tree yet? They come 6 to a pack.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 1 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

For this I used 4 of the planks and I created a bottomless crate. I glued them together with some DT tumbling blocks I had leftover from my Neiman Marcus tray dupe.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 3 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

I hot glued the blocks onto the planks, but I used Dollar Tree’s new wood glue from their craft section to glue the edges of the planks for a stronger hold.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 4 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

While that was drying, I took out my scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 2 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

I cut them down with my paper cutter in order to get nice straight lines.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 6 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

I cut the striped paper and then did the same with the star paper, making sure the star patterns were the same on each page.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 5 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

Then I took some Mod Podge ( I prefer the matte one) and began to apply my star paper.

I made sure to measure and mark all the way around the crate in order to keep the paper at the same level. In addition I cut the pieces of paper so that the stars would line up on the corners. This gives the crate a more polished look.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 7 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

Next, I Mod Podged the striped paper, lining up the stripes.

TIP: I use a Mod Podge squeegee in order to get my paper nice and flat every time so if you have trouble with your Mod Podge projects and experience wrinkles definitely check it out.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 12 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIYLet that dry…Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 8 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

Once dry, cut the excess paper on the top and bottom of the crate.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 9 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the entire crate and let dry.

You can definitely leave it like this, but I wanted to make it extra special so I decided to cut a couple of pieces of faux leather. I bought a pack from Hobby Lobby on sale for one $3.14.

The straps measured 3 1/2″ x 1/2″ and I just used a little bit of hot glue to adhere them onto the crate.

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 11 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

I added some faux greenery and that was it!

Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor 10 Dollar Tree Patriotic Decor DIY

I love how it turned out! You can add it to your decor in your home, or make several and use as centerpieces for a 4th of July party! What do you think?

And if you are not into Patriotic decor that’s okay, you can take this same concept and create an everyday look for your home.

If you want more Patriotic ideas, you can check out 3 more in my Youtube video below!

As always if you enjoyed, don’t forget to share!

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

*Some of the following links are affiliate links. Please see full disclosure for details here*

Good morning! Hope you all are doing well today. This week has started great and lots of progress has been made. Stay tuned for an entire series of renovation posts.

I have so many pictures I am going through and will be sharing all about. So much going on in the background. If you have been following along on Instagram you have already seen quite a bit of the behind the scenes. But I will admit it has always been so much harder for me to do progress blog posts, they are just so much harder than a DIY tutorial for me.

Perhaps it’s cause in the beginning there are no “pretty pictures” to share. And I feel like no one wants to see those.

I mean, if you saw the carpet dilemma we had to deal with last year including my trip to the ER, you would understand that this house was a complete hot mess.

And it has been depressing at times.

I will say that after a lot of hard work we are finally seeing some real changes so I think I will need to JUST.START.WRITING. I have been asked on many occasions if we regret buying the house, and despite everything we have been through my answer has always been a quick NO. The vision I have for this house is just too grand.

The land and location alone makes it so worth it. The house is just a bonus. LOL!

But okay, I won’t see talking about that. Let’s get on with this fun DIY!

Dollar Tree, as you might know, has a pretty large assortment of candles and while their scent variety is getting larger and better, they are all very small in size.

I had bought the following 3 candles in 3 colors: white, light blue and blue.

Yes 2 of them are used… we had a brief power outage over the winter and we were short of candles, but I still had enough to continue with my idea.

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 1 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

I thought it would be great to try and make one larger candle out of them. But instead of mixing them all together, I had an idea to create an ombre effect.

So I put them in pot of water on low on the stove and melted them.

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 2 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

Then I took a mason jar that I had on hand and placed a new wick inside. You can find wick kits like this here.

I am trying my hand at making my own soy candles so I already had some wicks.

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 3 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

The first thing you want to do is get the darker candle and pour it into the container.

Be careful, it will be hot.

Try to make sure the wax doesn’t touch the side of the container as it goes in. You want it to go straight down to the bottom.

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 4 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

Let the wax cool completely. You can put it in the fridge to speed up the process too.

Then add your next candle and let cool.

RELATED: DIY Blue & White Plater Chargers

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 5 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

Do this again with the last candle.

Let the wax cool and cut the wick….

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 7 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

Add a ribbon or jute, depending on your taste and that is it!

Your very own ombre candle.

DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle 6 DIY Dollar Tree Ombre Candle

This is perfect as a gift or you can make one with different colors for different occasions or holidays! It really is that easy.

Of course, if I were to do it again, I would probably add at least one more candle to fill up more of the mason jar, but this was all I had on hand. I still think it turned out so pretty.

Love the white and blue combination? There are more Blue & White DIYs here.

I hope you enjoyed this simple DIY! Please share it if you know someone who would enjoy it too!

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

*Some of the following links are affiliate links, please see full disclosure for more information*

Happy Monday! It is week 7 of homeschooling (apparently that’s how I keep time now) and I’m feeling optimistic. Our state is slowly opening back up and it was nice to see more people out and about over the weekend.

The hubby and I went out and picked up several things that we needed and worked on several projects while the kids were at my parents over the weekend.

However, today I am sharing another beautiful Dollar Tree DIY with items I already had in my stash.

I never thought I’d say this, but my crafting items are looking sparse. Yikes!

Anyways, I am sure you have seen the beautiful moss filled cement planters that are everyones’ farmhouse “must haves” right now.

Well, they are expensive.

And by that I mean CRAZY expensive.

Like the one below from Houzz.

Screen Shot 2020 04 19 at 9.36.48 PM 1 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Succulents are still in demand and now in cement bowls too. The one below from Overstock is almost $300 (on sale no less!)

Screen Shot 2020 04 19 at 9.39.43 PM Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Ouch!

They are gorgeous, but not for me at that price.

So I decided to try my hand at recreating that Look for Less.

I had this clear plastic bowl from Dollar Tree that I picked up (honestly, I can’t remember when).

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 2 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

And I had this paint that I had received from Plaid last year as part of their Ambassador program.

It’s supposed to have texture already in the paint so I thought it would be great to create a cement look.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 3 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

It wasn’t the color I was going for, but I knew I had to create layers so the color was going to be covered up anyway.

I started to paint and I tried to get a close-up so you could see the texture of the paint.

RELATED: DIY Farmhouse Wall Planter

Next, I layered on another gray.

This one was actually still too light, but I gave it a second coat anyways. I didn’t bother to cover everything perfectly.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 5 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Since I didn’t seem to have the color I needed, I made it.

I used my favorite White Adirondack chalk paint and mixed it with black chalk paint, until I got a cool dark gray. I made sure to not mix thoroughly, because I wanted the paint to go on streaky, with lighter colors and then darker ones, like this.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 6 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Here is a closer look of the variation.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 7 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

It’s starting to look like cement!

Once, that was done and dry, I added styrofoam to the bowl and secure it with a little bit of hot glue.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 8 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Next, I added some Dollar Tree moss balls and floral moss (I always have those in my stash).

I adhered them with a little bit of hot glue.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 9 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

Finally, I added some succulents. I thought 3 was just enough since I wanted the moss to be part of the arrangement as well.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 10 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

I love the final result!

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 1 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

The texture that paint gave was awesome and my final blend of black and white looked like cement.

Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl 11 Dollar Tree Faux Cement Bowl

This pretty much cost me nothing since I already had everything and a lot of stuff were leftovers from other projects, but if I had to buy everything it would run above $7 or so. Not too shabby I think!

I am so happy with my Look for Less this month and I have another one that I created that you can watch in the full video here.

Let me know what you think of this quick DIY! Perhaps you already have your items to make this!

As always, share with your friends who would love this too!

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY Pin Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

Hello friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today I am sharing another easy DIY made from a Dollar Tree mirror that I had lying around for way too long.

The one great thing about this quarantine is that I finally get to make over all those items that I have had in my stash (ya know, instead of just buying new things ?).

I have had this idea for a while, just never got to it and all I needed was a few leftover pieces of items that I had used previously.

Now once we all start going back to our regular shopping routines, if you do go to Dollar Tree and find mirrors, definitely buy yourself some. I don’t always care for their frames or designs, but a mirror for a dollar is an awesome price. And for a couple more dollars you can make something beautiful and unique.

Take this one for instance…

*Some of the following links are affiliate links where I make a small commission if you choose to purchase (at no extra cost to you)*

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

It’s plastic… and while I appreciate the nice “love” message, the design is not my style. So I decided to use the mirror portion (after all it was the most valuable part).

RELATED: Pottery Barn Mirror Dupe

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 2 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I had some dowel pieces (of course I did ?) and cut them to make a frame.

I have 2 tools that I use to cut my dowels: one is the mini miter saw kit below and the other is my new favorite craft tool of all time….my shears.

Those shears are a game changer!

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 10 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I simply cut them to fit the exterior of the frame.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 3 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I also had this small embroidery hoop piece that fit right in the center.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 5 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

So I cut 4 smaller dowels as well (small enough to fit between the hoop and frame).

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 6 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

These were all my pieces.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 7 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I stained them with my favorite antiquing wax (watered down of course).

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 7 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

While they dried I cut the ends off some large popsicles and glued them to the mirror from behind so I had a place to adhere the dowels for the frame.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 9 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I used a little bit of hot glue and E6000 to glue the frame on.

I tried to get them as close as possible.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 10 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

Next, I glued the embroidery hoop and the smaller dowels to the top of the mirror. I used E6000 for this.

If there was any glue that seeped out, I simply removed with it a cotton tip with some rubbing alcohol.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY 11 Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

After the dowels were dry I simply hung it up with some command strips.

Dollar Tree Mirror DIY Image Dollar Tree Mirror DIY

I know you can’t see it much here, but it is the perfect compliment to my DIY faux wood candlestick (that I had purchased at Goodwill).

This mirror is simple, but you would never think it started out as a cheap LOVE mirror sign from Dollar Tree

Now I wish I had more to make a set ??‍♀️

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Hey there friends! I almost thought I was not going to be able to post this week, but alas, I made it! The hubby and I are trying to get ahead on some renovation projects now that our flooring fiasco has been resolved.

If you don’t know, when we removed our carpets we found that the previous homeowners used to let their pets use the bathroom on their carpet…. constantly…. like FOREVER! So when we lifted the carpet, we found the subfloor completely saturated and damaged in several areas and we had to fix it.

This week on my channel I did share the exactly what we found and what we did to remedy the situation and how we reduced our costs. It was bad, but we learned a lot and are happy to share our experience because you never know who might be in a similar situation.

So if you or someone you know has damaged subfloors check out the video here.

Okay so now for the cute farmhouse sign above.

Yes it was a Dollar Tree DIY and it was so easy to make!

Here are a few things I used for a quick reference:

*The following links are affiliate links, for full disclosure please go here.*
  • Mini Miter Kit
  • Antiquing Wax
  • Paper Cutter
  • White Chalk Paint
  •  Mod Podge Matte Finish

First off, I used this cute sign from Dollar Tree.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 2 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I removed the jute string and began giving it a coat of white chalk paint.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 3 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I gave the entire piece 2 coats (making sure to get the flipping part of the sign on both sides).

Next, I searched online for the male and female bathroom signage and printed it out on cardstock.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Sign 1 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I cut it down to size with an exacto knife and made to make the opening for the flipping sign.

As always you can see the full tutorial in video format as well…

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 4 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Then, I applied  Mod Podge to the sign to adhere it.

Now you must be thinking why I would paint the sign only to Mod Podge over it. Well…since the sign was so colorful, had I not done so, the pattern would have shown through the cardstock and  it would have looked terrible.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 5 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Once that was dry, I did the smaller sign… I basically used font already on my computer and made sure that the words fit inside the smaller rectangle.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 4 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I cut the words out with a paper cutter so that the lines would be nice and straight. Mine is from Hobby Lobby, but here is a similar one.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 6 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

So while that was drying, I cut a dowel (5/8″ of an inch) in order to make a frame for the exterior.

I cut them down with my mini miter kit that has been so great for so many craft projects!

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 10 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Then I applied my favorite antiquing wax to the dowels.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 8 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I applied it with a small brush and removed the excess with a paper towel. It has such a beautiful finish!

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 7 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

I adhered them to the sign with hot glue and removed any glue residue that might have seeped through with my exact knife.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 11 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

Finally, I added some jute string on the back and it was ready to hang!

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 13 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

You would never know it was a Dollar Tree sign to begin with!

Use it on the exterior of a bathroom door or inside your bathroom for just decor.

Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign 14 Dollar Tree Farmhouse Bathroom Sign

And I love that it flips! So cute! It would actually be functional at parties too cause people could actually change out the verbiage to let people know someone is inside.

Let me know what you think and don’t forget to PIN!

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells*Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, please see full disclosure for more details.*

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I apologize for not having a new post on Monday, but if you follow me on either Facebook or Instagram, you would have seen that I was taking the day off since my kiddos were home from school and yesterday was my birthday.

So here we are today with the first Look for Less challenge of the year. If you don’t know what the Look for Less Challenge is, it’s where I ask my fellow YouTubers (and you of course) to recreate something you love from a higher end home decor store, but for a whole lot less.

If you wish to join definitely check out my previous post with all of the details and rules as well as my co-host for the month of January.

RELATED: My First Look for Less

Since this is my first Look for Less in several months, I wanted to start off kinda small just so I can start catching the rhythm of things as well as make sure it was a project anyone at home could do.

Over the holidays I had seen these vintage bells over on Ballard Designs’s website and I fell in love (with the bells, not the price tag).

I mean, they were on sale, but $36 for one bell is just too much, at least for me.

So, also over the holidays, I had bought some Dollar Tree Christmas Bells that I never used this year because of my move.

Ignore the white one from Target Dollar Spot. I thought I was going to use it for this, but then changed my mind.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 1 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Let’s just focus on those plastic brassy ones.

I knew that with some minor changes and some paint I could make them look vintage so the first thing I did was remove the greenery.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 2 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Since the were both the exact same bell, I wanted them to look slightly different so with my woodturning kit (using the cutting tool) I cut the top off one of them.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 3 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Total hack job I know! It was my first time. ??‍♀️

I had some wood finials and beads and decided to hot glue it on the top of that one.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 4 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Then I used some of my brushed metal paints by Plaid and gave everything one coat with a chip brush. I used a chip brush making all of my strokes horizontal, because I wanted the paint to have texture like metal would.

Paint used for this faux vintage bell:

  • Brushed Metal in Brushed Black
  • Brushed Metal in Brushed Bronze

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 5 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

I let it sit to dry and then gave it another coat… I ended up giving it 3 coats total always making sure to continue the horizontal strokes.

So far so good, but then it was time to add something more.

Some bronze to be exact.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 6 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

With a chip brush, you will dry brush the bronze paint onto the bell, this time using vertical strokes. Once you dry brushed a section, take a paper towel and kind of rub in and rub off the excess from the dry brushing.

The brush stroke on the front was my initial dry brush stroke, but to the left you can see after I rubbed the previous stroke with a paper towel.

And that is all there is to that version.

You can also watch the video tutorial as well here:

Here is what I did to the other one.

First, I wanted it to have a hanging hoop (just for show, not function) so I used one of the book (or binder) rings that you can get from the Dollar Tree.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 8 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

I hooked it through the top of the bell and hot glued it to place from the inside. Then I added a little wood ball to the top of the bell.

Afterwards I used a dry erase marker to make 2 lines all around the bell.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 9 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

I then took my “line” piece from my wood burning kit and burned those lines all the way around.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 10 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

It doesn’t have to be perfect, remember… vintage.

Next, I began to paint the bell.

Here are the paints I used for this faux vintage bell:

  • Folkart Acrylic Peppercorn
  • Brushed Metal in Brushed Dark Gray
  • Folkart Treasure Gold
  • Antiquing Wax

I applied one layer of the Peppercorn using horizontal strokes again.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 11 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Next, I applied the Brush Dark Gray in vertical strokes.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 12 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

After that was dry I came in with the Treasure Gold and I used a small pencil brush to apply it in the lines.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 13 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Then I began dry brushing more gold all over. Wiping down the gold after it was dry-brushed on. I used horizontal strokes here.

I love all the texture the opposite strokes gave this bell!

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 14 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

Finally it was still looking too “clean” and “crisp” to me so I took some of my favorite antiquing wax, mixed it with some water, and brushed it all over the bell, wiping off the excess to dry it (it will be a little runny).

This stuff is awesome for so many things! If you don’t have some, you should get some STAT!

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 15 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

It finally started looking aged.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 16 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

And that was it for that one as well….

Here they are both finished! You would never think they were plastic and brassy at one point.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 17 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

I love that they were both the same yet turned out so different.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 21 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

You can definitely use anything you have on hand that might work for the handles.

DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells 18 DIY Dollar Tree Faux Vintage Bells

And if you don’t have any of these bells from Dollar Tree, I see a ton of old porcelain ones at thrift stores all the time that would work just as well!

So simple yet so chic! I love how they turned out.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

Happy Friday!

We have made it to the end of the work week and I am happy that I’m still alive with this being the end of week 2 of my fitness and health routine. Whew!

I wanted to end the week on another sweet Valentine’s note since you all seemed to enjoy the wreath and topiary that I have already created. The only difference is this time I am going completely farmhouse neutral.

The items I used were from Dollar Tree and a couple of items I had left over from other projects. Plus, it is super easy to recreate!

Can I get a heck yeah!

Dollar Tree Valentine’s Sign How To:

First you will need a Dollar Tree frame (I used the square one below) and some scrapbook paper. I got this paper from Hobby Lobby and it has a ship lap print. It was left over from my DIY farmhouse picture frames.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 1 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

First, I removed the back of the sign and cut the scrapbook paper to fit.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 2 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

I used a glue stick to adhere it to the back of the sign (where it had no print).

Then I used one of the same hearts from my Valentine’s garland and this time I stained it with with a little bit of antiquing wax. I watered it down a bit and just brushed the “stain” on and removed any excess with a paper towel.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 3 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

Once that was dry I added a metal heart from another Dollar Tree sign and I glued it on with some E6000.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 4 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

After that was in place, I threaded a burlap ribbon through the top hole of the heart.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 5 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

Then it was time to assemble.

I placed the frame face down and then laid the heart down on top with the ribbon hanging over the frame. I adjusted the ribbon to where I wanted it to go and then put the back on. I held the ribbon on the back of the frame with a little bit of tape.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 6 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

And that was it!

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 7 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

This is perfect for anyone not wanting to go all out with pinks and reds for Valentine’s Day. I love the look of the heart. It almost looks like a necklace hanging.

Sweet and simple, yet elegant and farmhouse of course… ?

And of course it coordinates perfectly with last year’s Valentine’s LOVE sign as well.

Dollar Tree Valentines Sign 9 Dollar Tree Valentines Sign

If you don’t like things completely neutral you can always add your personal touch by changing or adding some color. ?

And if you are feeling truly inspired to create this weekend, check out my 2 coastal farmhouse DIY’s perfect for Valentine’s as well.

This was my first time making a tassel… not as easy as it looks people! ?

I hope you enjoyed these as well! Have a blessed weekend.

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

*Some of the links below are affiliate links, see full disclosure for more details.*

Happy Wednesday!

Now, is it just me or is January moving so quickly? I mean, my birthday is next week and I don’t even know how we got here. I feel like I was just taking down Christmas decor and all of a sudden I am getting another… year…. older…

Ya’ll I am not ready. 40 is creeping up and I am freaking out! Can these next 3 years just go really slow… I mean like really slow.

Snail pace people!

Okay, enough with the age talk…

>>>>Before I go on with the tutorial I did just share my latest thrift store haul on my channel so if you love thrifted treasures and wish to check out what I scored head on over to the video here<<<

Now back to the DIY… I hope you enjoyed the last Valentine’s DIY. I really love how that wreath turned out.

Today’s DIY is just as dreamy. This topiary is the perfect compliment to the wreath and I use the same colors for the roses so they coordinate if you want to maintain a consistent theme.

Here’s what you need:

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary Supplies

  • Metal Bucket
  • Rose Bushes
  • Dowel
  • Floral Foam
  • Jute
  • Nautical Rope (I used both white and brown)
  • Hot Glue
  • Toy Ball
  • Floral Moss
  • Wood Tint (or stain)
  • Chalk Paint (or paint of your choice)

I used a bucket from Christmas that I had left over and the white nautical rope is from Hobby Lobby. It’s $1.99 but I bought it at half off and they carry it all the time.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 1 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

First thing I did was hot glue the rope onto the bucket. I started with the brown rope and worked from the bottom up.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 2 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Make sure to keep the rope straight and when you wrap around back to itself, keep the “step up” to the next row tight and clean so that it looks nice.

Once you get to 2/3 of the way, cut the rope and start with the white. Now, this white nautical rope unravels really easy so make sure to take a little hot glue and seal the end so that it doesn’t come undone.

Then proceed to wrap.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 4 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

When I got to the handles I stopped and I used jute string to wrap the handles. Make sure to start really low on the handles so the white rope can cover the ends.

RELATED: Dollar Tree Valentines Day Decor

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 3 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

With the jute, I took my time and added a little bit of hot glue at a time. Don’t overlap the jute either. Just keep wrapping it next to each other keeping it nice and clean.

After I did both handles, I continued with the white rope.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 5 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Once I reached the top, I cut off the end and frayed it and glued it to the inside of the bucket. This creates less bulk and allows it to adhere to the wall of the bucket better.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 6 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Next, just to be safe, I painted the top portion of the inner bucket with white chalk paint. I knew I was going to fill the bucket in but just in case there was a peek through, you wouldn’t see any red.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 7 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

After the bucket was finished I took a broken dowel left over from another project and applied my favorite wood tint and let it sit to dry.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 8 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Next, I had these toy balls from Dollar Tree and I took one of them.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 9 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

I drilled a hole the size of the dowel through it.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 10 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Next, I took the same rose bushes that I used on my wreath and I pulled them off the stems as well.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 10 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

*Remember that when you remove the backing that keeps the roses together after you remove them from the stems, you have to glue the center of the petals together or they won’t stay together.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 11 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Then I simply hot glue the roses onto the ball.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 12 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

I started at the top with the white and worked my way down with the darker colors creating an ombré effect.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 13 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Once I was done adding roses, I inserted the dowel.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 14 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

I then took some floral foam and added it to the bucket.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 15 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

I inserted the dowel…

And then I hot glued some floral moss to the bottom.

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 16 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Finally, all I did was add a bow to the dowel and a little wooden heart (also from Dollar Tree) to the bottom of the stem, and I was done!

Dollar Tree Valentines Topiary 17 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

I love that this topiary can easily transition into Spring decor simply by removing the heart.

And can we talk about the bucket turned coastal farmhouse basket? I LOVE how it turned out and now I want to do it to all the things!

I hope you enjoyed this cute Valentines DIY Topiary.

And if you are interested in a 3rd DIY check out this cute banner (or garland, whichever you prefer to call it?). Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Banner Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Topiary

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a wonderful and restful weekend. My parents came over to spend the weekend and it was nice. My mom helped me out with the kids while I did some laundry and my dad helped the hubby work on fixing drywall, adding spackle and sanding areas in the kids’ bedrooms. It was productive, but we still have so much left to do.

I thought I would kick off the week with a sweet Valentine’s DIY fromhere(yes, it’s all from Dollar Tree).

This year I am going with softer more romantic hues, since last year I did more reds with buffalo check details.

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath Supplies”

  • Heart Tinsel Wreath
  • Chalk Paint ( I used this one)
  • Rose Bushes (3 different colors for ombré effect)
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Glue Gun
  • Twine

First you will need this heart sign.

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 1 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Remove the “love” and the tinsel.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 2 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Next you will need to paint the inner grid. I chose white chalk paint however, you can choose whichever color suits your color scheme.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 3 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Give it 2 full coats (you will not need to paint the exterior borders).

Next you will take the burlap wired ribbon from Dollar Tree, cut it to fit the heart shape horizontally and vertically because you are about to weave it through the grid like a basket. ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 4 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

I started with all of the horizontal rows.

RELATED: Dollar Tree Valentines Day Wreath (made from Christmas berry bushes)

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 5 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Then I added the verticals.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 6 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Here is what it should look like.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 7 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Once you are done with the “basket weave” you will glue the ends of the ribbon to the border of the heart frame with hot glue.

RELATED: 4 Valentines Day DIY’s

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 8 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Then when they are all glued down you will need to cut off the excess ribbon all around the border.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 9 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

After that I chose to use 3 different types of roses from Dollar Tree that all coordinated well.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 10 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

I remove the rose heads from their stems first.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 11 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

And then glued them on the perimeter of the wreath.

In order for the roses not to come apart after you cut down the small piece of them stem holding them together you will have to add hot glue throughout the inside centers of the petals so that they stick together.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 12 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

I began at the bottom and worked my way up. I used the dark roses first, then lighter peach ones and then the white ones.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 13 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

Once they were all adhered, I added a little piece of jute to hang it from the back.

ollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 14 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

And this wreath was done!

Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath 14 Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath

I love the basket weave detail with the beautiful transition between the roses creating a beautiful ombré effect.

You hang it on a door, over a fireplace, above a bed…. and you can change it up depending on your preferred color scheme.

How do you like it? Would you give it a try?

Know someone who might like this?  Don’t forget to share this with your friends and PIN this for later!

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Hey there friends!

I have another quick Dollar Tree DIY for you all today. I happened to stop by Dollar Tree the the other day and came across both sets of candleholders below.

One is a stemless candleholder, part of their Harvest collection. And the other are tall clear glass tea light holders.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 9 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Individually they are not much, but I had an idea of combining them, changing their color and even adding a little bit of farmhouse “bling” to them to make them a little more interesting.

If you are looking for a simple and inexpensive centerpiece or something for a shelf or side table this DIY is for you.

*Some of the links below are affiliate links, for more information check out my full disclosurefull disclosure*

Here is what I used:

  • 3 Dollar Tree Stemless Harvest Candle Holders
  • 3 Tall Clear Glass Tea Light Holders
  • Spray Paint (I used this one that I had on hand)
  • Wooden Beads ( I get mine at Michaels)
  • Bakers Twine
  • Floral wire
  • HomeRight Spray Shelter (optional)
  • E6000 Glue

*As always the video tutorial can be found at then end of this blog post or you can see it on my Youtube channel.*

First thing I did was spray paint the tall tea light holders. This is completely up to you. You can leave as is or paint whatever color you desire. I just happened to have a Satin black spray paint so I used that.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 10 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Next I strung 11 beads onto twine and did this 5 times. I made sure to leave some extra string on either end.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 1 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Next I strung 22 beads on some twine and tied the ends to make a circle.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 2 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Next I took some floral wire and did the same. I used 28 beads this time, tied the ends and cut off the excess.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 3 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

This is what you should have now.

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 4 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Next I took the large wire circle and I began to attach the small strings of beads evenly spaced throughout.

RELATED: Dollar Tree DIY Faux Galvanized Metal Chargers

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 5 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Once that was done, I took the large candle holder and placed it upside down in the wire circle, added the smaller circle on the bottom of the candleholder and began attaching the other ends of the strings (evenly spacing them out as well).

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 6 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

Once that is complete, all that is left is to glue the black tea light candleholder to the bottom of the large candle holder by using E6000 and then flipping it over. You also have the option of not gluing it so you don’t make it a permanent hold.

And that’s pretty much it!

DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders 8 DIY Dollar Tree Candleholders

You can leave them without the beads or make beads for all of them. I love them both ways actually.

I love how easy they were to make and how elegant they look.

Let me know what you think about these!

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Happy Friday!

We are already about to enter the first weekend of September – this is just crazy right?!

Today my kiddos had picture day at school and I sent them off dressed up as cute as can be… let’s just hope they choose not to fake smile today… or spill food on themselves before they take them. ??

Either way, it’s another great day for a DIY… a Dollar Tree DIY, that is!

And this one is super simple.

*Some of the links below are affiliate links. Please see full disclosure for me information*

All you need are the following:

  • Dollar Tree pumpkins
  • Raffia
  • Glue gun

You can choose any size or shape you want for this.

Video tutorial is on my Youtube channel as well as at the end of this post for your convenience.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 1 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Then, you are going to remove the stem from the pumpkin and unravel the raffia bundle.

RELATED: Fall Farmhouse Tablescape

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 2 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Take your glue gun and glue one end of the raffia pieces to the center top.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 3 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Then begin wrapping it around the pumpkin covering up all the creases of the pumpkin adding a dab of glue here and there to hold it together.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 4 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Continue the process until you have done all the creases. Get more raffia pieces as you need them.

RELATED: Dollar Tree Succulent Pumpkin Planters

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 5 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Then after all of the  creases are done. Cut smaller pieces of raffia and bundle them together. Begin to glue them down to fill in the areas in between the creases.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 6 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Continue to do this until you have covered the entire pumpkin.

Then finally glue the stem back on. You will have to cut the little piece of plastic that juts out underneath the stem because it won’t penetrate the raffia, however the hot glue gun will hold it just fine.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 9 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

And there you have it! Some really cute farmhouse inspired pumpkins from the Dollar Tree!

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 10 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

The great thing about these is that they are neutral and will go with any color scheme you choose for this season.

And if you don’t want to use the original pumpkin stems you can use branches or make your own out of air clay like the large one below.

Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins 11 Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins

Let me know if you will give this is a try!

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Dollar Tree DIY Galvanized Metal Chargers DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you all enjoyed a nice long weekend. It was great to just take things easy and enjoy some time with the family. We stayed at my parents and hung out with my nieces and nephew as well.

As promised I am here sharing the step by step tutorial on how to get the look of galvanized metal chargers that I used for the farmhouse tablescape I just shared with you all.

I am sure you have seen these gold chargers for ages! You may have some stashed away that you haven’t used in a long time cause, let’s face it, they’re not really in style… or haven’t been for the longest time.

I bought these at Dollar Tree several years ago and still had them around.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 1 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

I hadn’t gotten rid of them since they were still in really nice shape. I have been seeing a lot of people trying their shot at faux galvanized metal on other items and I thought I would give it a try on my chargers.

As a creator for PLAID I had some great new paints that I thought would work great for this technique and I decided to give it a go!

Here are the paints I used to get the galvanized look!

*Some of the links below are affiliate links for your convenience, please see disclosure for more details*

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers Paints DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

  • Home Decor Chalk Paint in Castle
  • Brushed Metal Paint in Dark Gray
  • Brushed Metal Paint in Brushed Silver
  • Folkart Antiquing Medium in Nutmeg

You will also need make-up sponges or if you don’t have any you can always cut up a magic eraser sponge like I did and it works like a charm.

The first thing you will need to do it sand the chargers with fine grit sanding paper. They are super slick and without sanding them first the paint will have a hard time sticking and you definitely don’t want that.

RELATED: DIY Farmhouse Table Cloth

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 2 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Next, you will add some of the Castle chalk paint to the center and start dabbing it with the sponge all over the plate.

>>>And as always, the video tutorial can be found on my YouTube channel or at the end of this post (just scroll down)<<<

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 3 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

You don’t have to make everything uniform because that will help with the look, but the key to making this look like metal and NOT like a whole bunch of paint dabs throughout the plate is that you have to make them connect.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 3 2 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

This is what the plate should look like after you are done with the chalk paint (the paint does darken).

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 4 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Once you let that dry, it’s time for the next layer.

You will now do the exact same thing with the Brushed Metal paint in Dark Gray.

You will want to leave some areas untouched and others darker than others like you see below.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 5 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

This is what that step will look like once it’s complete and dry.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 6 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Next you will take the Brushed Metal paint in Brushed Silver and do the same thing all over again.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 7 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

And this is what it will look like when you are done with that step.

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 8 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

Of course, in order to really get the look you need to add a little bit of rust… cause what’s galvanized metal without rust right?

I did this with the Nutmeg antiquing medium and I basically just added a small amount on my finger and I rubbed it along the edges and over the little bumps.

This part does not have to be perfect. Add as little or as much as you like and if you add too much you can just wipe it off and do it over. It’s that easy!

RELATED: Dollar Tree DIY Buffalo Check Tray

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 9 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

And here is how the charger looks when that step is complete and dry.

Isn’t it dreamy????

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 10 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

In order to protect all that dreaminess you have to seal it. I actually used Polycrylic in Satin and in the spray form, but I am sure you can also use Mod Podge (I would use either the Matte or Satin) and it will seal it just fine as well. It all depends on what you have on hand.

After you have properly sealed them they are ready for use!

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 12 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

I just can’t believe I had not thought about this until now!?

DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers 11 DIY Dollar Tree Galvanized Metal Chargers

And of course, here it is with my latest fall farmhouse tablescape.

Hello friends! I am happy to report that the first week of school is going great! Momma is enjoying her quiet time at home (the kids are also doing good). I honestly was concerned that my littlest would have a lot of trouble going in for a full day  and while she did cry on Monday, it has been much easier since then. She’s actually enjoying her days.

The other two were more excited than I was to be back. Imagine that!

Anyways, I can now focus on the house and crafting and me of course. ? I will say I have been taking it kinda easy these past couple of days, but now I am rested and excited for this Fall season quickly creeping up on us.

I have been thinking about how I want to approach my seasonal decorating since I have gotten rid of quite a few things since reading Marie Kondo’s book. I don’t want to start accumulating a ton of stuff after getting rid of a ton of stuff, so I have been thinking up of ways to create multi-seasonal decorations for my home.

The tray for this post was one of them.

I came across the following narrow signs at Dollar Tree among on of my frequent runs and I quickly fell in love with the buffalo check pattern on the sides so I decided to make an elevated tray out of them that could work for all of the following holidays this year.

Supplies I used for my DIY Dollar Tree Farmhouse Tray:

  • 4 Dollar Tree “Thankful” Signs
  • White Chalk Paint – I love this one
  • E6000 glue
  • Hot glue/Hot glue gun
  • 4 floral decor pieces for the feet
  • Dollar Tree tumbling blocks
  • Clips

Steps to make these:

Remember you can always see the video tutorial on my channel or at this end of this post.

I took 4 of them and lined them up so that the patterns would match up. Then I glued them together with E6000 and some hot glue dots in order to hold them down while the E6000 dried.

They were not as easy to keep in place so I used clips on the backs to further support and hold them in place while the glue dried.

After the trays were joined together completely, I gave the tops of the signs 3 coats of my favorite white chalk paint.

Next I had found these floral designs at Dollar Tree and removed the flower portion of the designs (I got that idea from this Youtuber).

I painted them all with 2 coats of the same chalk paint.

After they were dry I needed to attach them to the bottom of the tray, making sure the “love” faced inward. I used either craft popsicle sticks or tumbling blocks from Dollar Tree in order to add another little “anchor” for the feet.

I used hot glue to adhere them to the tray.

I did these for all 4 corners.

And that’s it! I just flipped the tray over and I was done.

It’s perfect to pair with fall decor on a shelf or a table.

By the way… do you like that little house? You can see how to make it here.

And since it is black and white it can go with any color scheme..

Plus, it will go perfect with Christmas decor as well so I don’t really need to create a ton of different decor pieces which helps save on space and clutter.

And if you don’t want to use them for decor you can make them even more handy by using them as food risers for your holiday get togethers. So many possibilities!

A Little About Your Latina

My name is Yami. I'm a wife, mother of 3 beautiful children and of course, your Latina next door. If you're my neighbor you will most likely hear a sander, drill or a can of spray paint hard at work at any given moment (with some salsa playing the background of course). I'm grateful that I get to stay at home and document all the little, BIG or just down crazy things I come up with to make my house a home and I would love for you to join me on this adventure! I partnered with @plowandhearth to decorate our camper and it turned out perfectly! With a small space we couldn’t add too much clutter so everything I added had to keep that in mind. Their new red and white toile quilts added the perfect touch to the beds. Their small battery operated tree was perfect next to our fireplace and those stockings are the perfect touch for smaller gifts.
