Simple Valentine’s Day Decor Ideas

It has been unseasonably cold here in Tennessee and the kids had been home from school now going on five days in a row. The snow is finally melting but some of the streets aren’t safe enough yet to travel on.

In addition, that also means there has been no work done on the house for over a week now. I am hoping that this next freeze we expect comes and goes quickly so that we can get back to our schedule.

Meanwhile, I thought I would bring some warmth to you today in the form of sweet Valentine’s DIYs.

I don’t usually go all out for Valentine’s Day, however, I don’t mind adding a sweet wreath, arrangement or small decor item in a few places. This usually helps our spaces feel warmer, since after Christmas, things usually seem quite bare around the home.

The tutorials for all of these is at the end of this page, however, I do have some individuals linked if you are only interested in a particular one.

The Basket Weave Wreath –

I made this one entirely from Dollar Tree items and it gives a different take on a wreath, since the center has a basket pattern created from ribbon. It would go perfect on a door or on a wall. I thought creating an ombre effect with the roses would add a sweet touch as well.

You can find the tutorial for this one here.

Linen and Rose Wreath –

Now, if you are into more of a traditional wreath, you can recreate something like the one below. I used the Dollar Tree wreath form in the shape of a heart and I covered it with linen ribbon. Then at the bottom, I added more ombre roses as well as some greenery. I think this one is just so sweet and simple.

You can find the tutorial for this one here.

Greenery Wreath Dupe –

If you don’t care for florals much or would like something more versatile that can be used for more than just Valentine’s Day, you can try this look for less I created when I was inspired by one that I saw on Grandin Road. You don’t have to have a wreath form for this either cause I share how easy it is to create your own wreath form.

You can watch this tutorial below or see it here.

Picture Frame Wreath –

The one below was basically me trying to figure out what to do with the guts of picture frame that had broken, a random wood heart from Dollar Tree and a ton of leftover florals from other projects. This is what I came up with. And it’s not half bad if I do say so myself. My mother loved it so much, I gave it to her and she used it for a couple of years.

The tutorial for this one is below.

Rustic Valentine’s Day Lantern –

If you like things a little more rustic you can try this cute lantern. I made it from the wood frames inside some Dollar Tree canvases. I yanked them out,  painted them and distressed them with some antiquing wax. Then I added the grapevine hearts with some ribbon, which were both from Dollar Tree. I added a cute candle, and I thought it was perfect on my credenza.

Key to My Heart Art Piece –

This next one is a little more complicated but really unique. I used IOD molds to create the key hole and keys. The square plaque was thrifted and the small rosebuds are from Dollar Tree. I painted and distressed the entire piece and I think it’s so different than anything I had ever done or seen.

You can watch the tutorial below.

Berry Heart Frame –

The following DIY I made from leftover Christmas berry picks. I wanted to find a unique way to use them other than Christmas and I think this is another fun and creative idea. I had a frame with two little holes that I had no idea what to do with, but it ended up being a perfect place to hang this sweet heart.

Find out how I made it here.

Painted Floral Heart and Printable –

The following one was something I wanted to try. I never painted anything like this before and thought I would give it a go. I was surprised at how good it turned out. I liked it so much so that I created a digital copy to share with you all. You can either print it as an 8 x 10 or as a card straight from your printer on card stock.

I adjusted their colors when creating the digital image and I like the tone even more. I think it’s more romantic in these hues.

Ombre Topiary –

The next one is this cute ombre topiary. You don’t need many supplies and I think something like this would look so cute on either end of a credenza. Mostly everything I used was from Dollar Tree and you can embellish this as much or as little as you like.

The tutorial can be found here or below.

Vase  Look for Less Dupe –

This next one is really versatile in that it can be used all year long. The vases below were Serena and Lily Dupes and I love that it elevates the simplest glass vase found in any Goodwill store (which is where I got them). Adding the large roses makes any coffee table look so romantic.

Watch the tutorial below.

Valentine’s Mini Vases –

I saved the simplest for last. Sometimes, you don’t have to do much to change something up for a special occasion. Dollar Tree sells these cute burlap gift bags and all I did was pull them over my little glass bottles, add some lambs ear in each one and that’s it. It’s a whimsical touch to add a little bit of charm to your space.

See how quick I made them below.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas today and walked away a little inspired to create something new. And if you know someone who would like this as well please share this with them in time for Valentine’s Day.

I will see you back here soon.

Until then… adios!
