Happy Monday!
Hope you all had a wonderful and restful weekend. My parents came over to spend the weekend and it was nice. My mom helped me out with the kids while I did some laundry and my dad helped the hubby work on fixing drywall, adding spackle and sanding areas in the kids’ bedrooms. It was productive, but we still have so much left to do.
I thought I would kick off the week with a sweet Valentine’s DIY fromhere(yes, it’s all from Dollar Tree).
This year I am going with softer more romantic hues, since last year I did more reds with buffalo check details.
Dollar Tree Valentines DIY Wreath Supplies”
- Heart Tinsel Wreath
- Chalk Paint ( I used this one)
- Rose Bushes (3 different colors for ombré effect)
- Burlap Ribbon
- Glue Gun
- Twine
First you will need this heart sign.
Remove the “love” and the tinsel.
Next you will need to paint the inner grid. I chose white chalk paint however, you can choose whichever color suits your color scheme.
Give it 2 full coats (you will not need to paint the exterior borders).
Next you will take the burlap wired ribbon from Dollar Tree, cut it to fit the heart shape horizontally and vertically because you are about to weave it through the grid like a basket.
I started with all of the horizontal rows.

Then I added the verticals.
Here is what it should look like.
Once you are done with the “basket weave” you will glue the ends of the ribbon to the border of the heart frame with hot glue.

Then when they are all glued down you will need to cut off the excess ribbon all around the border.
After that I chose to use 3 different types of roses from Dollar Tree that all coordinated well.
I remove the rose heads from their stems first.
And then glued them on the perimeter of the wreath.
In order for the roses not to come apart after you cut down the small piece of them stem holding them together you will have to add hot glue throughout the inside centers of the petals so that they stick together.
I began at the bottom and worked my way up. I used the dark roses first, then lighter peach ones and then the white ones.
Once they were all adhered, I added a little piece of jute to hang it from the back.
And this wreath was done!
I love the basket weave detail with the beautiful transition between the roses creating a beautiful ombré effect.
You hang it on a door, over a fireplace, above a bed…. and you can change it up depending on your preferred color scheme.
How do you like it? Would you give it a try?
